Welcome to Reput.io. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Reput.io Whitelist Intelligence API service ("Service"). By accessing or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you may not access the Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, accessing our API, or using any part of our Service, you acknowledge that:
- You have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms
- You have read and agree to our Privacy Policy
- You are at least 18 years old or have parental/guardian consent
- You have the authority to bind your organization if using the Service on behalf of an entity
2. Account Registration and Security
2.1 Account Creation
To use the Service, you must:
- •Provide accurate, current, and complete registration information
- •Maintain and promptly update your account information
- •Use a valid email address that you have access to
- •Create only one account per user (no multiple free accounts)
2.2 Account Security
You are responsible for:
- •Maintaining the confidentiality of your password and API keys
- •All activities that occur under your account
- •Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access
- •Enabling MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) for enhanced security
Security Warning
Never share your API keys publicly (GitHub, forums, etc.). We are not responsible for unauthorized access resulting from your failure to secure your credentials.
3. Subscription Plans and Billing
3.1 Subscription Tiers
We offer four subscription tiers:
Free Tier
- • 100 requests/day
- • 10 requests/minute burst
- • Limited response fields
- • Community support
Pro Tier ($79/month)
- • 20,000 requests/day
- • 60 requests/minute burst
- • Full response fields
- • Email support (24h SLA)
Team Tier ($249/month)
- • 100,000 requests/day
- • 300 requests/minute burst
- • Full response fields
- • Priority support (12h SLA)
Enterprise (Custom)
- • Custom request limits
- • 1000 requests/minute burst
- • SLA guarantees
- • Dedicated support
3.2 Billing Terms
- •Monthly Billing: Pro and Team plans are billed monthly in advance
- •Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled
- •Payment Methods: Credit card, debit card, or wire transfer (Enterprise only)
- •Failed Payments: Service may be suspended after 7 days of failed payment
- •Taxes: Prices exclude applicable taxes (VAT, sales tax, etc.)
3.3 Refund Policy
- ✓7-Day Money-Back Guarantee: Full refund available within 7 days of initial subscription (first-time customers only)
- ✗No Pro-Rated Refunds: Cancellations do not result in pro-rated refunds for the current billing period
- •Service Access: You retain access until the end of the paid period after cancellation
4. API Usage and Rate Limits
Guidelines for proper use of the Reput.io API.
4.1 Rate Limits
All API requests are subject to rate limits based on your subscription tier:
- •Daily Limit: Total requests allowed per 24-hour period
- •Burst Limit: Maximum requests allowed per minute
- •429 Status Code: Returned when rate limits are exceeded
- •Reset Headers:
X-RateLimit-Resetindicates when limits reset
4.2 Acceptable Use
You agree to use the API only for legitimate threat intelligence and security purposes:
Permitted Uses
- • Security alert triage and enrichment
- • SOC workflow automation
- • False positive reduction
- • Threat intelligence enrichment
- • SIEM/SOAR integration
- • Security research (with proper attribution)
Prohibited Uses
- • Reselling or redistributing API data
- • Creating competing services
- • Bulk scraping or data harvesting
- • Reverse engineering our algorithms
- • Circumventing rate limits
- • Sharing API keys across organizations
Fair Use Policy
We monitor for abuse and may suspend accounts that engage in excessive or suspicious API usage patterns, even if within rate limits. This includes automated scripts designed to circumvent restrictions.
5. Prohibited Activities
Activities that are strictly forbidden when using our Service.
You may NOT use the Service to:
Technical Abuse
- Launch DDoS attacks or excessive load
- Attempt to bypass security measures
- Reverse engineer our algorithms
- Probe for vulnerabilities
Commercial Abuse
- Resell or redistribute our data
- Create competing products
- Share accounts across organizations
- Use free tier for commercial purposes
Illegal Activities
- Violate any applicable laws
- Support malicious activities
- Facilitate cyberattacks
- Infringe on intellectual property
Data Misuse
- Scrape or harvest our database
- Build a competing dataset
- Cache data beyond 24 hours
- Misrepresent data sources
6. Intellectual Property Rights
Ownership and licensing of content and technology.
6.1 Our Property
The Service, including all content, features, functionality, algorithms, source code, confidence scoring methodology, and underlying data ("Our IP"), is owned by Reput.io and protected by:
- •Copyright laws and international treaties
- •Trade secret protections
- •Database rights and compilation protections
6.2 License to Use
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:
- Access and use the API for your internal security operations
- Integrate API responses into your security tools and dashboards
- Display Reput.io confidence scores and risk context to authorized users
6.3 Attribution
When displaying or referencing Reput.io data in reports, dashboards, or publications, you must:
- •Include attribution: "Powered by Reput.io" or "Data from Reput.io Whitelist Intelligence"
- •Not misrepresent the source of the data
- •Link to reput.io where possible
7. Disclaimers and Warranties
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
We specifically disclaim all warranties including, but not limited to:
Data Accuracy
While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee that all indicators are correctly classified. Confidence scores are probabilistic and should be used as one input in security decisions.
Service Availability
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Scheduled maintenance and unexpected outages may occur. Enterprise plans include SLA guarantees.
Security Decisions
Our Service provides contextual information only. Final security decisions remain your responsibility. Do not rely solely on our data for critical security decisions.
Third-Party Data
Our data is sourced from 180+ third-party feeds. We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of upstream data sources.
8. Limitation of Liability
LIABILITY CAP
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, REPUT.IO SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities
- Security breaches or incidents based on our data
- False positives or false negatives in our classifications
- Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim
9. Termination
9.1 Termination by You
You may terminate your account at any time by:
- •Using the "Delete Account" button in your Settings page
- •Sending a deletion request to hello@reput.io
- •Using the
POST /delete-accountAPI endpoint
9.2 Termination by Us
We may suspend or terminate your account if:
- •You violate these Terms of Service
- •Your payment fails for 7+ days
- •You engage in abusive or fraudulent behavior
- •You create multiple free accounts to circumvent limits
- •Required by law or legal process
9.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
- •Your API keys will be immediately revoked
- •Account data will be deleted within 30 days (GDPR compliance)
- •Usage logs will be retained for 90 days (for billing/abuse detection)
- •Provisions regarding intellectual property, disclaimers, and liability survive termination
10. Additional Terms
10.1 Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email 30 days in advance. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
10.2 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and Spain, without regard to conflict of law principles. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Madrid, Spain.
10.3 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Reput.io regarding the Service.
10.4 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
10.5 No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
